Imperfect Action: Beating Procrastination And Overwhelm

This blog post is in response to Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 7. The task is to identify one imperfect action that I can take every day that will move me closer to the life I want. I then need to imagine what it will be like when I take that particular action every day for the next 30 days.

Before I start, I’d just like to share how Natalie describes an ‘imperfect action’. Natalie talks about how perfectionism can hold you back and is, in fact, another form of procrastination. I know this only too well! She stresses how you need to get going and that “imperfect action is better than no action”.

So I’m going to follow Natalie’s advice and just get going!

Take the imperfect action step

My Imperfect Action

I did describe my plan in my previous blog post on Day 5 of Natalie’s Blog Challenge – Setting Up for Success.  It is to spend 90 minutes a day working on my business rather than in my business. I will time it based on three Pomodoro sessions each day.

These will be focussed on my other business Teather & Morrison Online and there are several aspects I’m working on with my business partner, Sammy. Together we have just published our first book ‘4 Simple Steps to Your Next Big Idea’ which is now available on Amazon as both a Kindle book and paperback. It’s now time to get the word out.

I’ve decided to focus on a different aspect of this project in each Pomodoro 25-minute session. The first session will be updating and posting on social media; the second will be adding to the re-design of the website, and the third will be starting to convert the book into an online course. We had been waiting to promote the book until the course was ready but we’ve now agreed to start with the book as it’s ready.

The Result in 30 Days

By doing this for 30 days, I will have achieved the following:

  1. Sales of our book
  2. An updated website
  3. A short online course completed and ready to launch.

The sense of achievement from doing this will be AMAZING! Completing this will give me experience in pulling a whole program together. It will also give me the confidence to tackle the other courses Sammy and I want to publish and sell.

It will definitely put me well on the road to achieving the location independent lifestyle I want!
