If there’s one thing I often remind clients, it’s this: clarity comes from action, and progress comes from focus.
Today, I want to share a big decision I made this year – one rooted in exactly those principles.
After 10 amazing years, I decided to close the Be Your Own Graphic Designer (BYOGD) website. The official final day of operation was 31st May 2025.
This wasn’t an easy choice. BYOGD began as a passion project to help small business owners create their graphics, particularly if, like me, they couldn’t draw a straight line! Over the years, it evolved into a colourful, welcoming hub for DIY design and Canva tips.
But here’s the truth: the digital and design landscape has changed, particularly with the rapid growth of AI – and so have I.
AI, templates, and design platforms like Canva now offer endless tools and resources. And while I’m proud of what BYOGD achieved, I’ve realised that continuing to grow it would mean dividing my energy and focus.
And focus is exactly what I want more of – for me, and for you.
That’s why I’ve decided to put my full attention into Morr Marketing – the space where I can help business owners simplify their marketing, gain clarity on their message, and make smart, creative choices that actually move the needle.
What’s next (and what stays the same)
-
Our BYOGD illustrations will still be available on Canva Pro (just search “byogd” in the Elements tab).
-
Our popular Canva Quick Tips will continue — but they’ll now be branded under the Be Your Own Graphic Designer @ Morr Marketing YouTube channel.
- The Morr Marketing videos are moving to the above channel as well.
- I plan to launch a series of Canva templates to help you quickly and easily create your own unique designs.
These changes will let me incorporate marketing advice with design tips and how-to’s on Canva.
The takeaway for your business?
This experience was a powerful reminder that regularly reviewing your business isn’t just helpful – it’s essential. What once made perfect sense may no longer serve your audience (or your goals). And letting go of something that works can actually create the space to build something that works even better.
So here’s your friendly nudge:
Take a step back. Ask yourself what’s serving your business and what might be pulling it in too many directions.
You might just find your next big leap forward hiding in the clarity of focus.
